Try connecting the printer cable to a different USB port. If you can't save a scanned file to the computer, then the problem could be the USB cable - but you said that you tried another cable with no change - or it could be the USB port on your computer. To the computer? If that's what you mean, the cable and the USB port on your computer appear to be working, so the fault would seem to be in the printer itself.

Does "works fine when scanning" mean that you can scan a document and save a file (e.g., a pdf file) You write that the "printer works fine when scanning and copying." Copying is, of course, a function that the device does without involving the computer. This sounds like a bad connection between your printer and your computer.

There should be no entry for the Canon MX330, but if there is, select it and click "Remove" remove both the driver and the package.Click on the link for "Print server properties" in the tool bar at the top of the Devices and Printers window (this link will not appear if you are unable to do step 7).Click on any other icon in the "Printers and Faxes" category (assuming that there is at least one icon remaining).

If the icons for your MX330 printer and MX330 fax are still there, right-click on each of them and select "Remove device"

Go to Control Panel > Programs and Features, find and select "Canon MX330 Series MP Drivers" and click "Uninstall".Disconnect the printer from the computer. For the 32-bit version of Windows 7, you should download " md86-win-mx330-1_02-ej.exe" - click the "Download" button and save the file in a location that you will remember (e.g., your Desktop).Make sure that the website has correctly identified your version of Windows and then click the "Select" button.and click the "Drivers and Downloads" button Given that this is essentially the process that seems to have caused your issue in the first place, I don't have a lot of hope that this will fix things, but this is what Canon recommends as a first step.

If troubleshooting a communication issue, reconnect the data cable (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared).

It seems that for some reason, Windows is having a problem communicating with your printer. I've never found the Windows "troubleshooters" to be particularly helpful.
